We Make Our Future
(No funded shows currently available - Nov 2023)
We Make Our Future is different to the other workshops we offer - it's an interactive, educational & entertaining science show delivered by the inflatable planetarium company - Explorer Dome. Best for children in KS3/4.
Explorer Dome, in collaboration with the Inspire Sustainability team at UWE Bristol, created this new experience in 2021 to celebrate the ingenuity of human engineering, address current issues around Climate Change and introduce Digital Engineering as a relevant and attainable aspiration for all young people.
We Make Our Future is a presenter-led experience which can be delivered inside Explorer Dome in schools.
Full-dome digital projections allow children to visit engineering marvels from history and explore the pros and cons of modern life. Industry, technology and invention have progressed civilisation, but at what cost? Get to know how the Engineering Design Process and application of digital technology can make the world a better place for us all.
We don't currently have funding to provide free shows to schools. But you can always book Explorer Dome to deliver We Make our Future - please contact them directly.
Previous funding
In 2021-2022 the Digital Engineering Technology & Innovation (DETI) initiative provided funding for 10 state schools in the West of England to experience this new show in the Explorer Dome inflatable planetarium.
And in 2022 - 2023 the Royal Academy of Engineering provided generous funding (via their Ingenious grant scheme) to take We Make Our Future into a further 17 schools in the West of England. This funding also enabled us to expand the show's content to include more inspirational videos of real-life engineers with jobs in sustainability.
We hope to secure more funding in the future, so please do get in touch with us if you'd like to know if free shows are available. (No funded shows available as of Nov 2023)
